Family Support Worker – Social Care Non-Qualified
Provide practical and emotional support to children, young people and families experiencing difficulties.
Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with children, parents, carers and families.
Support families to develop practical strategies to improve their circumstances and wellbeing.
Carry out home visits and provide support within family and community settings where required.
Assist families with routines, parenting skills, household management and maintaining safe home environments.
Identify concerns relating to children’s welfare and report safeguarding issues to the appropriate professional.
Support children and young people to develop confidence, independence, communication and social skills.
Work with parents and carers to promote positive parenting and improve family relationships.
Encourage families to access appropriate education, health, housing, community and support services.
Contribute to assessments, support plans and reviews by providing accurate information about family needs and progress.
Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date records of visits, interventions, observations and outcomes.
Work closely with Social Workers and other professionals as part of a multi-agency support team.
Monitor the progress of families and report any changes, concerns or improvements to the relevant professionals.
Provide practical support during periods of crisis and help families develop coping strategies and sustainable solutions.
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and organisational policies and procedures at all times.
