Scottish SPCA Micro-volunteer (Edinburgh & Lothians)

The Scottish SPCA needs your help to make Scotland the best place for all animals to live!

Volunteering with the Scottish SPCA is a wonderful thing to do, not only for Scotland’s animals in need and the people in your local community, but also for you!

This role is designed to be completely flexible – fit it in around your busy life to suit you! You can choose to simply share our news and campaigns with a monthly online task, or if you feel like getting a bit more involved now and again, we will keep you up-to-date with events and other initiatives in your area.

Did you know that it costs us £63,000 per day to look after all the animals in our care? As an SSPCA Micro-volunteer, you will help ensure that we can continue to provide our vital services.

Experience required

  • Enthusiasm – lots of it!
  • Ability to use social media channels (for online posts)
  • An understanding of the Society’s work – we will give you training!
  • A pleasant and polite manner when dealing with the public
  • Confidence to interact with other people
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
  • Ability to take instruction and follow health & safety requirements at events

We reimburse volunteer travel expenses at the HMRC rate of 45p per mile up to a max of 30 miles per day.

Support

You will receive your own online volunteering account and need to complete a few online training courses. Vhairi will be in touch with you about available events and how to complete your monthly social media task.

Frequency & commitment

1 monthly online task, with option to get involved in events and fundraising as suits you.
