Volunteer Police Cadet Adult Leader – Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for Volunteer Police Cadet Leaders to be part of our Cadet Units in Bristol or South Gloucestershire.
Responsibilities
- Deliver fun, interactive weekly sessions and act as a positive role model.
- Support cadets at community events, visits to police teams, and other policing activities.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment where all cadets are welcomed and encouraged to share concerns.
- Plan and prepare for weekly sessions and other activities, which may take place on weekends.
Volunteer Time Commitment
Volunteer Adult Leaders will attend and deliver weekly meetings from 7 pm to 9 pm. Arrivals are expected around 6:30 pm and departures around 9:15 pm. Meetings are held on Tuesdays (South Gloucestershire) and Wednesdays (Central Bristol).
Support
- No prior policing experience required – comprehensive training and resources will be provided.
- You will receive dedicated support from the Citizens in Policing team for any questions.
- Full uniform and equipment will be supplied for all activities, regardless of weather.
- Opportunities to undertake safeguarding and first‐aid training, plus handbook and toolkit guidance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Cannot have been a Police Cadet within the last six months.
- Must provide references able to comment on experiences with children or young people, either personal, voluntary or employment.
- Must be eligible for an enhanced DBS check and able to provide the required references.
- 3‑year checkable history in the UK is required, ideally proven by residence in the UK for the last three years.
