Contract: 2x Permanent

5x Fixed Term for 6 months

Hours: Full time (36 hours)

Grade: D

Salary: £27,706 per annum

Starting salary may be reviewed if candidate has evidence of a higher salary.

There are two full time permanent positions and five 6‑month fixed term positions in Reader Services working within a Monday to Saturday operation. This role operates on a shift rota which includes working 4 days a week that will incorporate 2 x 11 1/2 hour shift and 2 x 8 1/2 hour shift.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to support the safe and secure operation of the St. Pancras Reading Rooms while delivering a high standard of customer service to Readers, visitors and staff.

As the first point of contact for Reading Room users, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment, while also ensuring that the Library’s collections are protected from theft, damage or loss.

You will work closely with colleagues across Reader Services to maintain a secure environment, respond to incidents and emergencies and support the smooth day-to-day running of Reading Room operations.
