Salary

Up to £45,000 per annum

Package

  • Salary circa £45,000, dependent on experience.
  • Company Performance Bonus of up to £2,5000 per annum

Role Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Manufacturing Electronics Engineer to join a high‑integrity manufacturing team in Bolton, supporting complex electronic products through all stages of assembly, integration and test. The role focuses on servicing, maintaining and improving electrical and electronic test equipment used in a regulated engineering environment.

You will work hands‑on with Special‑to‑Type Test Equipment (STTE), undertaking calibration, commissioning, drift analysis, fault finding and repair to component level across a range of technologies from DC through to microwave. This is a key position in ensuring product quality, test capability and manufacturing throughput remain robust and reliable.

They design and manufacture complex systems used in highly regulated, safety‑critical environments, operating under stringent security and quality standards.

You will join an established, multi‑disciplinary engineering team that supports complex test platforms used in the manufacture and test of advanced systems. The culture is collaborative, with a strong emphasis on knowledge sharing, continuous improvement and ongoing technical development.

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain electrical and electronic test equipment, including Special‑to‑Type Test Equipment used in factory environments.
  • Perform routine and non‑routine calibrations, commissioning activities and drift analysis to keep test platforms within defined tolerances.
  • Carry out fault finding and repairs down to component level, using drawings, handbooks, specifications and measurement equipment.
  • Support complex test platforms used in the manufacture and test of sophisticated electronic and electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Work closely with wider engineering and support functions to resolve technical issues impacting manufacturing throughput and test performance.
  • Contribute to workload planning and throughput achievement, ensuring issues are prioritised and resolved effectively.
  • Mentor junior team members when requested by the line manager, supporting skills development within the team.
  • Maintain accurate records within site systems (SAP knowledge advantageous) and follow site procedures for safety, security and quality.

Candidate Profile

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electronics or a closely related discipline, with relevant experience in test equipment or manufacturing support.
  • Proven experience in calibration of test equipment and maintenance of test systems to component level.
  • Strong understanding of calibration principles, processes and drift behaviour across DC to microwave technologies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply instructions, handbooks, drawings and specifications to deliver high‑quality measurements and repairs.
  • Analytical, methodical approach with strong problem‑solving capability and the ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Clear, adaptable communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across engineering and production teams.
  • Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance, with awareness of working in secure, controlled environments.
  • Salary circa £45,000, dependent on experience.
  • Company Performance Bonus of up to 5% of fixed salary.
  • Pension with total contributions (employer and employee) up to 14%.
  • Paid overtime opportunities and flexi leave of up to 15 additional days.
