Meter Reader – Oxfordshire

We are hiring meter readers in Oxfordshire now; no experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect data from gas, electricity and water meters at both commercial and residential properties.
• Update meter reads accurately throughout the day on a handheld device and enter details at each location.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and businesses.
• Carry out visual inspections of metering equipment.
• Perform charge point surveys.

What we offer

• £13.49 – £13.97 per hour basic pay (weekly payment).
• Weekly hours 40–45 with flexible start and finish times Monday‑Friday, occasionally Saturday, between 8 am–8 pm.
• Average annual earnings £29,000–£35,000 including bonuses.
• Bonus scheme up to £2,000 monthly.
• Overtime rates £16–£25 at manager’s discretion.

Requirements

• Manual UK driving licence – minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, no DR offences (driving licence is not required in some areas in London).
• Physically fit; able to bend in tight spaces, lift, kneel, climb stairs, crouch and walk an average of 4–5 miles a day.
• Happy to work in all weather conditions.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
• Credit report check (no county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years).
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous customer service experience (preferred but not essential).

Training

Training is 1 week and will be both classroom‑based and field‑based with an experienced meter reader.
