Mechanical Supervisor

Altrad are currently on the lookout for a Mechanical Supervisor to work at Dungeness A leading the Altrad Babcock mechanical team. You will oversee the daily operations of mechanical work on-site or in a facility.

Key Deliverables

  • Direct a team of mechanical technicians and assign tasks to complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work.
  • Monitor the performance of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment to identify issues and arrange repairs or adjustments.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets required specifications, safety standards, and quality guidelines.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals to guide installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Order, track, and manage inventory of spare parts and mechanical supplies.
  • Develop and implement mechanical maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, incidents, and inspections.
  • Train, guide, and support team members to improve skills and ensure adherence to safety and operational protocols.
  • Respond quickly to mechanical emergencies to reduce downtime and prevent further damage.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and legal requirements at all times.
  • Coordinate with the client (NRS) and other departments to support project, decommissioning and maintenance activities as needed.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements where necessary.
  • Understand how to work to permits and safety documentation.
  • Complete and submit weekly timesheets for the team.

Key Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent education. NVQ level 3 in a mechanical discipline.
  • Certification or diploma in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, installation, or repair, including supervisory or team leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Experience using a range of hand and power tools and measurement devices.
  • Skilled in resolving mechanical problems efficiently.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Physical ability to lift moderate weights, stand for long periods, and perform work in various environments.
