About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Coventry for a September start. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The Spanish Teacher will inspire a love of languages and cultures, supporting students to develop confident communication skills and a strong understanding of the Spanish language. The role requires a committed and reflective practitioner who contributes positively to the wider life of the school and to the continued development of the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective Spanish lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Teach listening, speaking, reading and writing skills across a range of abilities.
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations.
- Monitor, assess and track pupil progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Use a variety of teaching approaches to meet the needs of all learners.
- Contribute to the development and review of the Spanish and wider MFL curriculum.
- Create a positive, inclusive and well‑managed classroom environment.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement.
- Support enrichment activities, trips and cultural opportunities linked to language learning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the MFL department and across the school.
- Take part in staff meetings, training and professional development activities.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- A relevant degree in Spanish or a related language discipline.
- Experience of teaching Spanish at secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge and an enthusiasm for languages and international culture.
- The ability to deliver engaging, well‑structured and differentiated lessons.
- A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting the progress of all learners.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A positive, flexible and professional approach to teaching and learning.
- Experience of teaching GCSE and/or A level Spanish is desirable.
