About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Coventry for a September start. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The Spanish Teacher will inspire a love of languages and cultures, supporting students to develop confident communication skills and a strong understanding of the Spanish language. The role requires a committed and reflective practitioner who contributes positively to the wider life of the school and to the continued development of the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective Spanish lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach listening, speaking, reading and writing skills across a range of abilities.
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations.
  • Monitor, assess and track pupil progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Use a variety of teaching approaches to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Contribute to the development and review of the Spanish and wider MFL curriculum.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and well‑managed classroom environment.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement.
  • Support enrichment activities, trips and cultural opportunities linked to language learning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the MFL department and across the school.
  • Take part in staff meetings, training and professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • A relevant degree in Spanish or a related language discipline.
  • Experience of teaching Spanish at secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge and an enthusiasm for languages and international culture.
  • The ability to deliver engaging, well‑structured and differentiated lessons.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting the progress of all learners.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A positive, flexible and professional approach to teaching and learning.
  • Experience of teaching GCSE and/or A level Spanish is desirable.
