Building Physics Engineer

Bristol / £35k – £45k / Flexible Hybrid Working Options / Permanent, Full‑time

Day‑to‑Day

Your typical day will involve:

  • Conducting detailed energy and environmental modelling using IES VE software
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and clients to provide expert advice on sustainable design strategies
  • Preparing reports and documentation to support compliance with regulations and certifications
  • Attending project meetings to influence design decisions and ensure alignment with sustainability goals
  • Staying up‑to‑date with industry standards and best practices to deliver innovative solutions

Responsibilities

  • Utilise IES VE software to conduct advanced building performance modelling and analysis
  • Support the development of Net Zero Carbon and operational energy strategies in line with UKGBC, LETI, RIBA 2030, and local planning requirements
  • Assess projects for compliance with Part L, Part O, CIBSE TM52/59, EPCs, CIBSE TM54/NABERS, and Passive House accreditation
  • Provide modelling input to support relevant BREEAM credits
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance, performance, and best practices are integrated into design decisions from concept to delivery

Qualifications

  • A degree in physical sciences, or an engineering discipline such as physics, mechanical, electrical, building services engineering, environmental, or architectural engineering
  • 2‑4 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of sustainable building design principles
  • Proficiency in IES VE software
  • A passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change in the built environment
