Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils on a temp to perm basis within a specialist educational setting in the Preston area. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, and who are looking for a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basisBuilding positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeingAssisting the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activitiesManaging and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent mannerEncouraging emotional regulation and social developmentSupporting students both inside and outside of the classroomThe ideal candidate will:

Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviourBe patient, empathetic, and resilientHave strong behaviour management skillsBe committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenBe looking for a long-term role with the potential for a permanent positionWhat Teaching Personnel can offer:

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
