Bus Driver (2025 – 2026 School Year)

Qualifications

• High School diploma or high school equivalent required
• Bus Driver’s license / CDL license required
• Supervisory references preferred
• Positive employment history preferred
• SLED/criminal background review required
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Salary

$18.20 per hour base salary with opportunities for overtime

Non-Exempt

Job Status

At-will employee, subject to random drug and alcohol testing and pre-employment screening.

Responsible to

Director of Transportation

Job Duties

• Obeys all laws
• Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
• Maintains discipline when students are on bus
• Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority
• Keeps assigned bus clean
• Keeps to assigned schedule
• Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects
• Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness
• Discharges students only at authorized stops
• Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips
• Transports only authorized students
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports
• Provides time, mileage and route reports as requested by supervisor
• Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus
• Checks the bus before and after each trip
• Adheres to district drug/alcohol testing policy and procedures
• Reports any condition which may jeopardize safe transportation
• Performs other related duties as required
