Job Title: Pastoral Support Assistant

Location: Dorking, Surrey

Employment Type: Full‑time, Monday to Friday

Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Salary: Paid to scale

This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

Responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one and group support to students facing personal, social, or academic challenges.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes student well‑being and resilience.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to address individual student needs.
• Assist in the development and implementation of intervention strategies and programmes.
• Maintain accurate records and produce reports on student progress and well‑being.
• Uphold and promote safeguarding policies and best practices within the school.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a pastoral or support role in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
• Understanding of child development and effective support strategies.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements

• Minimum of two professional references.
• Current child and adult DBS clearance.
• Prepared to attend a face‑to‑face interview with Axcis to demonstrate suitability for the role.
• Applicable to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 exemption for work with children or vulnerable adults.
