We are working with a well-established, growing business that is seeking a talented Controls Engineer to join its engineering team.
This role is conveniently located within easy commuting distance of Hull, Goole, Scunthorpe, and Grimsby, making it an excellent opportunity for a skilled Controls Engineer across the region.
As a Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, improving, and supporting automated production systems. Maintain and support automated production equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and control panels. Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system faults to minimise disruption. Modify and enhance PLC and HMI programmes to improve performance and reliability. Support commissioning of new machinery and control systems. Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to identify root causes of issues. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems. Assist with control system upgrades and automation projects. Ensure compliance with UK electrical standards and safety regulations. Maintain accurate documentation, including schematics and maintenance records. HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Control Engineering Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and variable speed drives Proven electrical fault-finding skills on automated machinery. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. Good understanding of industrial safety standards Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Mitsubishi PLCs~ Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)~ Exposure to robotics or advanced automation
Flexible to support production when required.
