NPD Assistant Manager – Coated Paper / Film / Alu

Job Title: NPD Assistant Manager – Coated Paper / Film / Alu

Salary: Approx £45k pa / dependent on experience.

Role Overview

Reports to: New Product Development Manager. Based in UK with international travel. Scope for career development due to longer term succession planning.

Responsibilities

• Customer rejection level below budgeted level in cooperation with Operations.
• Support team in achievement of annual targets for Sales and profitability.
• Operate within departmental cost allocation.
• Contribute to NPD development strategy.
• Maintain all aspects of designated Product Sector in accordance with Strategic Plan.
• Support Sales contact to market development as agreed with NPD Manager.
• Develop strong technical customer relationships and understand customer & market needs.
• Troubleshoot internally and at customer to maintain performance and product quality for designated products.
• Provide continuous improvement initiatives for product and process.
• Develop new value‑added products from concept through to market to increase margins.
• Manage R&D projects successfully within agreed budget and timelines.
• Update internal processes as required.
• Support purchasing initiatives.
• Operate between UK and overseas manufacturing sites where needed.

Required Experience

• Proven experience in parallel markets for development of new products.
• Formal project management skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and analytical tools.

Desired Experience

• Proven capability in New Product Development with examples.
• Experience with coatings.
• Demonstrated understanding for substrates – film, paper and aluminium.
• Familiarity with reel‑fed production processes.

Relationships

• Technical contacts at customers.
• Internal sales.
• Production personnel.
• Institutes, universities.
• Suppliers of substrates, coatings, equipment & machinery.

Role Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry.
• Proven track record of involvement within New Product Development.
• Experience with coatings.
• Experience of working with film, paper & aluminium substrates.
• Familiarity with reel‑fed production processes is desirable.
