Job Title: Nurture Teacher

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £34,398 – £48,913 per year (M1 – UPS1 Fringe) plus £5,000 Welcome Bonus for Qualified Teachers*

Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time only

Working Hours

  • Monday–Wednesday: 8.15am – 4.45pm
  • Thursday: 8.15am – 5.00pm
  • Friday: 8.15am – 4.00pm

About the School

We are recruiting a Nurture Teacher for a brand‑new SEND Secondary School opened in September 2025 in Surrey, supporting young people aged 11–16 with social communication needs, emotional regulation difficulties, and sensory processing differences, typically associated with Autism. The school offers a therapeutic, nurturing environment with small class sizes and a strong multi-disciplinary team.

Role Purpose

The Nurture Teacher will lead high?quality teaching and learning within a nurture?based setting, supporting pupils who require a more personalised, relationship?focused approach to education. Many pupils may have additional learning needs and may present with behaviours linked to anxiety, communication challenges, or emotional dysregulation. You will create a safe, structured, and supportive environment that helps pupils build confidence, resilience, and positive learning habits.

Key Duties

  • Plan and deliver nurture?based lessons tailored to pupils’ emotional, social, and academic needs
  • Create a calm, predictable classroom environment that supports regulation and engagement
  • Work closely with the pastoral, therapeutic, and teaching teams to support holistic development
  • Set and review personalised targets linked to EHCP outcomes
  • Track, assess, and report on pupil progress
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, PEPs, LAC meetings, and multi?agency discussions
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation using agreed strategies and school policies
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote positive behaviour and learning
  • Stay informed about best practice in nurture approaches, trauma?informed teaching, and SEND

Candidate Requirements

  • PGCE, with QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH, or social communication needs
  • Understanding of nurture principles, attachment?aware practice, and trauma?informed approaches
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi?disciplinary team
  • Experience developing personalised learning plans or bespoke curriculum pathways
