Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers
  • Research supplier and product and identify potential suppliers based on project requirements
  • Negotiate contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors and suppliers
  • Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing
  • Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production
  • Maintain supplier database, product specification sheet, buying template, stock master preparation and update tracker
  • Review balance orders, study averages and price comparison – imports
  • Work closely with the accounts department to ensure contract terms are favourable to the company
  • Attend meetings with the design team, management, vendors and suppliers
  • Manage, coach and develop high performing purchasing and cost estimating teams that meet agreed objectives and which deliver best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
  • Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
  • Catalogue and supplier artwork checks

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  • Extensive experience working in the procurement department in a related field
  • Relevant qualification will be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of the industry and market conditions
  • Strong understanding of imports and negotiation techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
