We are looking for a flexible, confident and empathetic person to join our friendly and dedicated Reception Team. This is a part time position for a Medical Receptionist. Experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Working hours are Monday 8am – 5pm, Tuesday 12 noon – 6pm and Friday 8am – 6pm.

Main duties of the job

Main aspect of the role is to be the first point of contact for patients, secondary care and outside agencies. You will need a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. You will be required to provide admin support to our Clinicians by processing various tasks including prescriptions and follow up appointments whilst adhering to Practice policies and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

We are a small practice based in North Ormesby, we have 4 GPs, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 Practice Nurse and 2 Health Care Assistants supported by our dedicated Reception / Admin Team. Job responsibilities

JobSummary:

To provide general assistance tothe practice team and project a positive and friendly image to both patientsand other visitors, in person or via the telephone.

To ensure all reception duties are undertaken efficiently andpromptly.

JobResponsibilities:

  • To have a knowledge and understanding of Practicepolicies and procedures.
  • To work in accordance to written protocols surroundingthe reception team.
  • Filing post in medical records
  • Photocopying as requested
  • Dealing with patients and visitors both face-to-faceand via the telephone
  • To be able to cover all receptions positions asnecessary
  • Handling completed repeat prescriptions and processingrequests where required
  • Processing appointments requests for patients bytelephone and in person
  • Deal with home visit requests
  • Summarising
  • Scanning and coding of letters

Person Specification

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken.
  • Ability to use IT systems and windows.
  • Basic knowledge of general protocols and policies relating to reception and admin duties.
  • Ability to use medical IT systems E.g. System1

Qualifications

  • To have or to be working towards NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Business Administration and/or Customer Service

Experience

  • Experience with customer services and dealing with public and/or patients.
  • Previous experience of working in a GP surgery.
