Working hours: Compressed 4 day working week (no weekends)

A well‑established manufacturer is seeking an experienced Pattern Maker to join its Pattern Shop in Telford. This is a key technical role supporting right‑first‑time casting, tooling reliability, and continuous improvement across the operations. You’ll be responsible for producing, maintaining, and improving high‑quality pattern and core tooling, working closely with technical, production, and quality teams to support safe, efficient, and sustainable manufacture.
Responsibilities
- Manufacturing new patterns and core boxes from drawings, CAD data, or existing components
- Repairing, modifying, and maintaining existing pattern tooling
- Applying correct shrinkage, draft, machining allowances, and core prints
- Selecting suitable materials including timber, resin, and metal
- Supporting defect reduction, tooling improvement, and process efficiency
- Working to health, safety, and quality standards at all times
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Pattern Maker
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD data
- Excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills
- Knowledge of green sand and chemically bonded moulding processes
- A proactive, safety‑conscious, and continuous improvement mindset
- Apprenticeship or formal training (desirable)
