Electrical Craftsperson (Shifts: 4 on / 4 off)
We are looking for an Electrical Craftsperson at the Dunbar Cement Plant – a location close to Edinburgh, Berwick upon Tweed, North Berwick, Bonnyrigg, Haddington and surrounding areas. The role will support critical production equipment across quarry, kiln, milling, packing and utilities areas, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the plant during day and night shift operations.
As a key member of the 24/7 Maintenance team, you will respond to plant breakdowns, fault‑find, restore equipment safely and support operational reliability across the site.
Main Responsibilities
Within this shift-based Electrical Craftsperson role you will be responsible for maintaining electrical and process control equipment throughout a large‑scale continuous‑process cement manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Prioritising safety at all times and demonstrating a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental standards, electrical isolations, permit systems and safe working practices within a heavy industrial environment.
- Responding to electrical breakdowns and carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on plant equipment in a safe and timely manner.
- Applying existing knowledge or quickly developing expertise in a wide range of equipment, including instrumentation, PLCs, DCS/SCADA systems, LV & HV motors, switchgear, motor control centres, control gear, AC & DC systems, variable speed drives, industrial communications systems and specialised control panels.
- Carrying out systematic electrical fault finding across power, control and process systems within a live production environment.
- Performing planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections during shift periods.
- Assisting operations teams in identifying and resolving plant reliability and process issues.
- Supporting shutdown activities and major maintenance works across the site.
- Working across a large industrial site, including outdoor plant areas, substations, elevated structures and dusty process environments.
