Youth Support & Mental Health Worker
Location: Caerphilly
Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £100 per day via PAYEE
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: 7th of September 2026

Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with mental health needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and additional learning needs (ALN / SEN)
- Support classroom staff with behaviour management strategies
- Help pupils build confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
- Offer firm but fair guidance, setting clear boundaries with empathy
Ideal Candidate
- Experience is desirable but not essential. A background in mental health or wellbeing support, youth work, care or residential care, healthcare or support roles, or sports coaching or mentoring.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness to complete required training
- No formal qualifications required – ideal for those new to education
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – support provided)
- EWC registration (guidance provided)
- Two professional references
- Ability to travel within the Caerphilly area
