We are looking for someone who can make a real difference to the lives of our young people. Candidates must be warm and friendly, with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for providing high quality care and support. The successful candidate will be self‑motivated, well‑organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience in working in this field, in either a paid or voluntary capacity, is desirable but not essential for this role, as training will be provided for the successful candidate. What is most important to us, is that you a kind, caring and compassionate individual who enjoys interacting with young people and assisting them with their daily living activities.

The successful candidate will be contracted to work for 42 weeks, plus 2 training days per year.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Encourage our young people with their problem solving and independent living skills
  • To assist our young people to participate in social and recreational activities with their peers either onsite or within the wider community
  • Encourage and support the development of our young people’s personal skills through hobbies and interests
  • Teaching life skills such as shopping, cooking, using public transport and household budgeting
  • Observe and monitor physical and emotional well‑being, and promptly report any changes or concerns by the appropriate recording channels
  • Being aware of and complying with policies and procedures relating to Adult safeguarding and child protection, health & safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, and staff code of conduct, and reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Participating in regular training sessions, courses, and other learning activities and performance development, as required

Qualifications and skills

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Capacity to work constructively as part of a team
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to relate and interact well with young people who have a range of communication needs
  • This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
  • Experience of working in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
