Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Operative – Bath & North East Somerset Council

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose: to improve people’s lives.

Opportunity: Seasonal grounds staff working from March to October, weather dependent, for a shorter or longer period.

Department: Parks & Green Spaces.

We take pride in maintaining neighbourhood cleanliness and enhancing green spaces across our parks, open spaces and highway verges.

About the Role

Location options:

  • Royal Victoria Park Bath Depot, Station Road
  • Keynsham Depot
  • Radstock Road depot

Contract Type: Agency/Temporary.

Extra: Enhanced pay for weekend and bank holiday work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planting, pruning, seeding
  • Hedge trimming
  • Grass cutting in parks, open spaces & verges
  • Strimming, leaf blowing, raking
  • Watering of plants
  • Propagation and nursery care of plants
  • Site preparation
  • Manual litter picking and sweeping
  • Emptying litter & recycling bins, replacing liners
  • Using electronic mobile devices to record work and log any issues
  • Resolving any complaints as directed by managers

Required qualities: Physically fit and prepared to work outdoors in all weather.

Additional requirements: Subject to Enhanced/Basic DBS Check.
