We seek a passionate and experienced adult educator to support unemployed individuals and those with multiple barriers. This role involves designing, planning, delivering, and reporting a range of educational pathways face‑to‑face. You will join a supportive team of experienced tutors, have opportunities for professional development, and contribute to our inclusive and diverse community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality accredited and non‑accredited programmes.
- Provide inclusive, culturally competent learning experiences that raise aspirations for diverse communities.
- Set individual targets, monitor progress, and evaluate learner achievement.
- Promote Adult Education provision through various channels, including social media.
- Support learners with multiple barriers by embedding coaching approaches, confidence‑building, wellbeing awareness, and barrier‑reduction strategies.
- Provide high‑quality information, advice and guidance on employment pathways.
- Liaise with and engage local employers to ensure a clear and structured route into work for residents on the programme.
- Work collaboratively with Job Shop advisers, employment support teams, and partner organisations.
- Facilitate and manage application/interview sessions with local employers, supported by Job Shop employer engagement and event staff.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external Employer Engagement teams/resources to provide direct access to application routes and local vacancies.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of barriers to employment, including mental health challenges, disability‑related needs, long‑term unemployment, and low confidence.
- Have knowledge of Coventry’s labour market, including growth sectors, employer expectations and progression routes.
- Demonstrate experience moving learners into sustainable employment and strong positive destination data.
- Motivate and engage adults with complex needs.
- Adapt teaching for differing abilities, including those seeking higher‑level roles.
- Build trust with vulnerable learners through strong interpersonal skills.
- Commit to safeguarding and trauma‑informed approaches.
- Have knowledge of local third‑sector and community‑based organisations that support vulnerable residents.
- Have knowledge of the Vocational Training sector and the local ITP landscape.
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 2 English and Maths.
- A Level 3 teaching qualification (minimum).
- A Level 3 or equivalent subject‑specific qualification.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of curriculum practice and experience in adult education delivery.
- Strong understanding of equity, inclusion, safeguarding and Prevent.
- Ability to teach across multiple venues and formats throughout the year.
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship offered).
- Will undergo a pre‑employment check and police record check.
