Overview
The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council and provides a wide range of courses for Coventry residents aged 19+. Our main base is at Southfields Old School with provision delivered at about 25 other sites within Coventry, predominantly in areas of highest need.
Role Overview
The Connect to Skills pilot project for 2026/27 aims to engage residents in Coventry’s most deprived areas, support those without Level 2 qualifications, and create pathways into further learning and employment. We are seeking passionate and adaptable Adult Education Tutors to deliver teaching, learning and assessment activities across the following pathways: Health & Social Care, Green Skills & Climate Literacy and Warehousing & Logistics. Tutors will design and deliver engaging sessions that remove barriers to learning, support progression and align with our strategic pillars: Learning to Connect, Learn for Life and Learn for Work. Delivery will take place in community venues such as Family Hubs, libraries, schools and outreach locations, with flexible modes including face‑to‑face, online and blended learning.
Responsibilities
- Deliver teaching, learning and assessment activities across the specified pathways.
- Design and deliver engaging learning sessions that remove barriers to learning.
- Support learner progression and align teaching with the strategic pillars of the service.
- Deliver in a range of community venues and adapt to flexible modes of delivery (face‑to‑face, online, blended).
Qualifications
- Teaching qualification.
- Experience delivering adult learning in community settings.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to engage diverse learners, including economically inactive, ESOL learners and individuals with additional needs, with a commitment to inclusive education.
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship offered).
- Exemption under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and required DBS check.
