Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Operations, as Head of Control Centre Operations you will lead real‑time system operations from the Control Centre, ensuring the transmission system operates safely, securely and efficiently at all times. This high‑impact leadership role combines operational excellence with strategic influence to support renewable integration, drive innovation, and shape the future capability of the Control Centre.

You will lead Control Room and back‑office teams, act as the senior escalation point for operational issues, and engage with key stakeholders across the energy sector, including system operators, generators, regulators and government bodies.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (or HNC with equivalent experience).
  • Typically, 8+ years’ experience in power system operations.
  • Strong knowledge of transmission system operation and the Northern Ireland grid.
  • Proven leadership experience in a high‑pressure operational environment.
  • Experience with Energy Management Systems and dispatch/scheduling tools.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk and system security standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence, lead change and operate at senior leadership level.
