Overview
Location: HMP Leyhill, Gloucester GL12 8BT. Salary: £35,875 per year for a 39 hour week (incl. 20% unsocial). Vacancy type: Permanent. Skilled Worker visa sponsorship may be available, subject to eligibility and UK Immigration Rules.
Sponsorship is not guaranteed, and applicants must ensure they have the right to work in the UK for the duration of their employment.

Qualifications and Requirements
- At least 18 years old at commencement of employment
- Meet Civil Service Nationality requirements
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment
- Meet required eyesight standard in both eyes
- Meet a suitable standard of hearing (without the use of hearing aids)
- For high‑security (Category A) role: resident in the UK for the last 3 years
- Tattoos are permitted provided they are not offensive, discriminatory, violent or intimidating; facial tattoos are generally not acceptable unless for cultural, religious or medical reasons.

Operational Support Grade (OSG) Opportunity
The Online Assessment Centre (OAC) also determines suitability for appointment as an Operational Support Grade. If unsuccessful in becoming a prison officer, you may be offered an alternative OSG role.
