Apprentice Civil Engineering Technician

What is the job role?

This is an exciting and sustainable career opportunity for a Level 4 Civil Engineering Senior Technician apprenticeship. Over two years you will learn on the job, gain qualifications, and develop a broad skill base within a forward‑thinking, integrated transport and highways service. The apprenticeship may lead to a Level 6‑degree programme after successful completion of the Level 4 stage.

Responsibilities

• Work across all parts of the Transport and Highways service, including Highway Maintenance, Flood Risk Management and Drainage, Public Realm projects, and Traffic Road Safety.
• Assist experienced engineers and technicians in the delivery of multi‑million‑pound programmes of work in Coventry.
• Support the development and delivery of construction schemes and associated tasks.
• Take part in a range of projects, such as the Coventry Very Light Rail, city‑wide segregated cycleways, City Centre public realm improvements, Coventry South Transport Package, Foleshill Transport Package, Tile Hill Station Interchange Scheme and various housing developments.

Who are we looking for?

• Full current UK driving licence holder, or working towards one.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
• Ability to use and understand IT systems in an office‑based environment.
• Fulle‑time commitment to a fixed‑term contract of 27 months in line with the apprenticeship training.
• Strong interest in civil engineering and a desire to help maintain and improve the city’s transport infrastructure.
• Flexibility, a can‑do attitude, and the ability to build professional relationships with the team.
