Ifso, we have an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, dedicated SpecialNeeds Assistant to join our caring and committed team from September 2026.

Therole will involve providing one-to-one support for children with an Education,Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in Year R. Support would be for children withsignificant communication and interaction and speech and language needs. Thiswould be alongside, social, emotional and developmental differences andrequires a nurturing, structured and highly individualised approach to learningand play.

Thesuccessful candidate will play a key role in supporting our children to:

  • developearly communication skills using a range of approaches (e.g. visuals,modelling, interaction)
  • engagein structured, motivating learning and play activities
  • buildattention, play and social interaction skills
  • followroutines and manage transitions with adult support
  • developindependence in self-care and daily routines
  • remainsafe within the school environment through close supervision

Sharingand implementing agreed strategies and contributing to review meetings will bea key component of the role.

Thecandidate will preferably have experience of supporting pupils with additionalneeds, particularly those with speech, language and communication needs, autismspectrum profiles, and/or social and emotional needs.

Yourresponsibilities will include:

  • working1:1 with a child to support access to learning and the wider schoolenvironment
  • supportingthe child to work towards personalised EHCP outcomes
  • deliveringtargeted interventions and structured play-based learning
  • supportingemotional regulation, routines and transitions
  • preparingand organising resources, including visual supports
  • workingclosely with teaching staff, the SENDCo and external professionals
  • ensuringthe safety and welfare of the child at all times
