Job Title: Senior Data Science Analyst – Audit
Location: Bristol or Edinburgh
Salary: £49,000 – £59,000
Hours: Full-time
Working pattern: Hybrid, at least two days per week, or 40% of time at an office site.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced analytics and data science techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of the Group’s control environment, providing assurance and identifying deficiencies.
- Partner with other audit colleagues to assess risks and test controls, producing robust, defensible analyses, and help auditors to interpret results.
- Seek out opportunities to use innovative data science techniques, such as Generative AI and Machine Learning, helping to identify new use cases and enhancing audit processes.
- Establish relationships with internal audit teams to facilitate delivery of data science and analytics, whilst learning about the Group’s businesses, risks and controls.
- Promote the use of data science and analytics in audit, upskill audit colleagues in data analytics, and contribute to department-wide presentations.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, contribute to data science and analytics development projects, and help the function to be more data and AI driven.
- Develop knowledge of the Group’s strategy, products and markets and take responsibility for professional development.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience delivering data science and analytics to support audits, or experience in a non-audit role with a proven grasp of internal audit or risk management.
- Ability to understand business processes, risks and controls, and deal with ambiguity to deliver assurance and insights.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, with practical experience.
- Knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, analytics and core data science techniques.
- Knowledge of visualisation techniques.
- Experience presenting technical topics and complex analysis to a non-technical audience.
- Desirable: experience with machine learning, Generative AI, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Power BI.
