Job Description:

Weare a friendly, forward-thinking GP Practice based in the heart of thecommunity. We now have an exciting opportunity for a conscientious, friendly and hardworking receptionist to join our practice team at Weeping Cross Health Centre.

We have some flexibility with the role and are ideally looking for around 24 hours during the week.

(Starting salary is circa £24.8k pro-rata although this is dependant on experience.)

Main duties of the job

The successfulcandidate will need excellent communication skills, be highly organised, have apositive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team. You will be committed toputting patient care first and share our values and our passion for deliveringquality care. Experience of working in the healthcare sector is preferred.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary:

Receive, assist and direct patients inaccessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous,efficient and effective way.

Providegeneral assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendlyimage to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Tohave a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures and protocols,working within them all times.
  • Ensurean effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients andany other visitors to the practice
  • Dealwith all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-upappointments.
  • Ensurepatients are signposted to the right clinician and seen in a timeframeappropriate to their symptoms
  • Explainpractice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and thoseseeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
  • Receiveand make telephone calls as required.Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail andprompt appropriate delivery.
  • Preparelists and notes for all surgeries and clinics held, ensuring completion ofall associated paperwork.
  • Ensureall correspondence, reports,results etc are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring thatall recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
  • Openup premises at the start of the day when first to arrive, de-activatealarm and make all necessary preparations to receive patients.When last toleave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is totally secured,internal lights are off and the alarm activated.
  • Undertakeany other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by thePartners or the Practice Manager.

Experience

  • The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills, be highly organised, have a positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team. Computer experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
