£50,998 to £55,224 inclusive annual salary + Local Government Pension Scheme (Pay Award Pending)

About the role
An exciting opportunity to lead, support, develop and manage the Litigation and Regulatory team within the Legal Shared Service. The role focuses on providing proactive, robust, high‑quality, specialist legal advice on Litigation and Regulatory matters, supporting the Council’s corporate plan and projects, and ensuring high‑quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support and develop the Litigation and Regulatory team and contribute to the development of the Legal Shared Service.
- Lead on complex legal matters, identifying potential areas of risk and liability and advising on solution‑focused strategies.
- Provide proactive, pragmatic, robust and solution‑focused advice and support to all clients (internal and external).
- Monitor budgets for the Litigation and Regulatory team, seeking innovative and creative ways to save money whilst improving services.
- Research, analyse, investigate and provide legal advice to councillors and officers on any matter within council functions.
- Attend Member and Officer meetings, including Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings, to ensure that decisions are lawful.
About You
- Proven track record in managing a legal team.
- Legal expertise and experience in Litigation and Regulatory law.
- Strong interpersonal and client‑management skills.
- A collaborative approach to working across councils and teams.
