Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Washington, North East England

Working Pattern: Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Flexible start and end time. Training 5 days onsite, thereafter flexibility – minimum 3 days on‑site required.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated individual to join our Manufacturing Engineering business in Civil Aerospace. You will be based at our Washington, North East Campus, supporting the facility in creating, developing and maintaining the Method of Manufacture for our production lines. In this role, you will provide technical support to operations and execute Manufacturing Engineering activities to develop, maintain and continuously improve the manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture, which are capable of meeting and continuing to meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, deliver rate and lead time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day technical support to operations to ensure process compliance.
  • Work with the engine project, design teams, and supply chain (where relevant) to support the introduction of new products across our business.
  • Continuously improve the methods of manufacture to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost and lead time.
  • Work with interfacing teams, local experts and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood and accounted for as required.
  • Develop manufacturing technology capability through manufacturing capability acquisition, internally and externally within the Rolls‑Royce supply chain.
  • Capture, evaluate and use data to demonstrate and improve the capability of manufacturing methods.
  • Identify and implement innovative ways of working to drive continuous improvement including digital manufacturing solutions which enable the creation of a “digital thread” throughout the product lifecycle, connecting design, manufacturing and operational activities.

Qualifications

  • Professionally Qualified Engineer (for example UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent).
  • Manufacturing engineering experience in one of our core disciplines – Component Ownership, NC Programming, CMM Programming, Laboratory.
  • Problem solving, process improvement and control, and the use of APQP & PPAP tools to manage change.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAPP, MES, SAP and technical documentation (highly desirable).
  • Experience with Teamcentre and SiemensNX packages (highly desirable).
