Senior/Principal Wastewater Modeller (Urban Drainage)
Peterborough – Flexible working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and adjustable start and finish times.
Join our Urban Drainage Modelling Team and contribute to transformative projects, from feasibility studies and precise model building to surface water management plans and development impact assessments.
You will use state‑of‑the‑art design software and advanced techniques to deliver groundbreaking solutions for clients across public and private sectors, including recent high‑profile projects such as the Island of Jersey Surface Water Management Plan and the Anglian Water AMP8 WINEP Modelling Programme.
Core duties and responsibilities
- Work within agreed deliverables, key milestones, project methodology, quality assurance and control strategy.
- Lead project delivery tasks, including engagement with clients’ technical teams.
- Provide technical guidance, support and training to less experienced colleagues.
- Develop modelling processes and create innovative modelling tools.
- Work on a range of different types of modelling projects for clients in both the public and private sector.
Qualification and experience required
- Experience in the model build and verification of integrated catchment models and/or solution development using Infoworks ICM.
- Experience of water quality modelling and/or undertaking UPM studies would be advantageous.
- Experience of GIS (e.g. ArcGIS or Mapinfo) and Infoworks ICM hydraulic modelling software is essential.
- A track record in mentoring team members less experienced in this field.
- Experience of managing projects and acting as technical discipline lead on urban drainage/sewage modelling projects is advantageous.
- Experience managing modelling teams from a commercial/financial perspective would be beneficial.
- An understanding of the market and an interest in business development to help expand and diversify our range of clients would also be welcomed.
- For the Principal role you must be chartered with an appropriate institute (e.g. ICE or CIWEM) or be close to achieving chartered status.
