Job Description:

Ultra Precision Control Systems (Ultra PCS) is looking for a Lead Engineer to support the development of the next generation of critical control and data processing products. The role requires leading the technical activities of a multi-disciplinary engineering team and working with the Project Manager to deliver the programme on cost, schedule and quality through its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver engineering development.
  • Balance competing demands and requirements, assessing customer requirements, and prioritizing workload as required.
  • Lend a wide understanding of electronics, software, systems and mechanical disciplines.
  • Plan, coordinate and present at design reviews.
  • Interact with non-engineering supporting functions.
  • Support customer, partner and strategic supplier meetings.
  • Author key project documents, including Engineering Development Plans and Declarations of Performance.
  • Regularly present project status to the Project Engineering Team Leader and Head of Engineering.
  • Maintain awareness of Ultra’s products within the competitive landscape.

Expectations, Background and Understanding

  • Degree educated in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Experience within one of the following disciplines: project lead, systems, software or electronics engineering.
  • Experience of designing and testing to military environmental standards.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced and agile environment.
  • Capable of managing and prioritising multiple project streams each with their own customer and development objectives.
  • Experience of safety critical solution development in accordance with DO-178/DO-254 and ARP4754.
  • Experience with leading a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of leading complex projects with substantial software, electronics and systems engineering elements.
  • Background in Defence or Aerospace industries.
  • Experience in electronic architecture development.
  • Experience of relevant UK Land vehicle Defence Standards such as DEF STAN 59-411, DEF STAN 61-05, DEF STAN 00-35.
  • Previous involvement in SOI audits and certification reviews.
  • Experience of DOORS Requirements Management tool.
