About the Role

This senior leadership role is within egg Power, Liberty Global’s clean energy infrastructure investment business. The Commercial Director is a key strategic advisor and business leader responsible for shaping the commercial strategy, securing thousands of megawatt of projects, and driving the expansion into new revenue lines.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of egg Power’s commercial and route‑to‑market strategy across solar, wind, BESS and private wire.
  • Originate, structure and negotiate CPPAs, BESS tolls and other commercial arrangements to secure long‑term revenue.
  • Monetise all future available revenue streams, including the Capacity Market, balancing, and short‑term hedging.
  • Monitor market developments and regulatory changes, ensuring implications are understood and reflected in commercial strategy.
  • Oversee the commercial structuring of projects, aligning offtake, funding requirements and delivery.
  • Establish and maintain robust commercial risk management frameworks, covering pricing exposure, counter‑party risk and regulatory impacts.
  • Provide strategic leadership across project development, investment cases and revenue optimisation, including identification of new commercial opportunities.
  • Shape egg Power’s commercial positioning and value proposition to corporate offtakers.
  • Lead commercial asset management of operational projects to drive enhanced financial, market and business performance.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Relevant years of renewable energy expertise from late‑stage development to commercial operations.
  • Recent CPPA experience with large blue‑chip buyers and extensive industry contacts.
  • Experience in M&A of RtB/late‑stage development energy assets.
  • Commercial negotiation across all key contracts in renewable energy project businesses.
  • Strong commercial and financial judgment applied to investment and risk decisions.
  • Engagement with and commitment to ongoing learning about evolving energy markets across Europe.
  • Experience building and developing high‑performing teams and supporting growth of junior colleagues.
  • Interpersonal skills and leadership presence.

Qualifications & Capabilities

  • Bachelors or above in Engineering, Physics, Economics or similar.
  • Relevant years of energy market and renewable energy experience, especially in the UK and Europe.
  • Background in PPAs, power trading and project development across solar, wind and BESS.
  • Experience in Private Equity or other investment environments in the energy sector.

  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and long‑term perspective.
  • Ability to apply sound business practices and work with senior management.
  • Results‑driven senior leader with a collaborative, partnership‑oriented approach.

  • Deep understanding of the commercial, regulatory and financial drivers of renewable energy platforms.

  • Strong organisational, leadership and planning skills, able to anticipate issues and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and their application in structuring renewable energy projects.
