Role Overview
We are seeking a substantive NHS Consultant in Neonatal medicine to join the neonatal team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW). The post is located within the Women’s and Children’s Department and contributes to the delivery of a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care service for the West Midlands Neonatal Network.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage neonatal care as part of a team of 10 neonatologists.
- Contribute to the delivery and organisation of the newborn service across Coventry and Warwickshire.
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and the development of the neonatal service.
- Engage in areas of special interest to complement existing expertise.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be on the GMC specialist register or have a Common Clinical Training (CCT) date within 6 months of the interview date.
- Senior trainees within 6 months of completion of training (CCT) are also encouraged to apply.
Work Environment
The neonatal unit has a capacity of 16 critical care cots, 14 special care cots and 6 transitional care cots, providing Level 1, 2 and 3 cot days each year. The unit is part of a large purpose‑built perinatal centre with around 5,500–5,800 deliveries annually.
