Graduate Solar Sales Consultant

Launch your career in renewable energy · Reading, Berkshire (office-based) · Base salary + uncapped commission · Full training provided

No solar experience? No problem. If you’re a recent graduate with drive, great people skills, and a genuine interest in clean energy, we’ll teach you the rest.

About our client

Our client is one of the UK’s longest-established and most respected specialists in residential renewables, with well over a decade of industry experience. Based in Reading, they design, install, and maintain high-quality solar PV, battery storage, and smart energy systems for homes across the South of England.

Their approach is technically led, built on honest advice, transparent pricing, and first-class installations. The business is growing fast — and they’re investing in the next generation of talent to grow with it. That’s where you come in.

Their mission: help people take control of their energy, cut their bills, and accelerate the UK’s shift to a sustainable future.

The opportunity

This is a graduate role designed to turn you into a high-performing solar sales consultant. You’ll start with full training and the support of experienced mentors, and grow into owning customer relationships end to end — from first enquiry through to signed contract.

You’ll learn how to assess a property, scope the right system, work with the in-house design team, present proposals, and close deals. Over time you’ll run your own pipeline and own your numbers — with the tools, training, and autonomy to do it well.

If you’re ambitious, coachable, and want a career where your earnings reflect your effort, this is a brilliant place to start.

What you’ll be doing

  • Engaging homeowners by phone, email, and video to understand their energy needs.
  • Learning to recommend solar and battery storage solutions matched to each customer’s property, usage, and budget.
  • Explaining a clear, transparent pricing model and building trust through honest advice.
  • Educating customers on the full offering — solar panels, inverters, batteries, EV chargers, and heat pumps, plus design, installation, permitting, and financing.
  • Visiting customer properties to assess feasibility and capture survey information (once trained).
  • Keeping accurate records of leads and customer interactions in the CRM, and following up to nurture each opportunity.
  • Working alongside the design, projects, and installation teams to deliver a smooth customer experience.
  • Representing the business at local events and networking opportunities.
  • Working towards monthly targets — and earning commission as you start to close.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need a sales background. You do need:

  • A recent degree (or equivalent) and the ambition to build a career in renewable energy.
  • Strong communication and people skills — you’re confident talking to anyone.
  • A quick learner who thrives in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • A customer-focused, proactive, and positive attitude.
  • Self-motivation and a willingness to take ownership of your performance.
  • A genuine interest in sustainability and clean energy.

Nice to have (but not essential)

  • Any customer-facing, retail, or sales experience.
  • Basic understanding of solar, batteries, or smart home technology.
  • Familiarity with CRM software (e.g. Salesforce).
  • Additional language skills.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence, or a firm commitment to obtain one before the start date.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Location & hours

  • Office-based at the Reading site, 5 days per week (ideal for learning fast alongside the team).
  • Occasional home working by agreement as you progress.

What you’ll get

  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission — your earning potential grows with you.
  • Structured training and hands-on mentorship from experienced industry professionals.
  • A clear path to grow into a senior sales role in one of the UK’s fastest-expanding sectors.
  • A direct role in promoting green energy and transforming homes for a sustainable future.
