Job Overview

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Surgeon in Renal and Pancreatic Transplant and Organ Retrieval. This post is based at Manchester Royal Infirmary and offers a substantive position for suitable candidates. The role will focus on delivering pancreatic and renal (both live and deceased) transplantation, vascular access surgery, and providing input to the National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS). The appointment can be tailored to clinical interests to aid service delivery and support career development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pancreatic and renal transplantation (live and deceased)
  • Perform vascular access surgery
  • Provide input to the National Organ Retrieval Service (NORS)
  • Act as consultant on calls, scheduled emergency lists, and elective opportunities
  • Contribute to the development of the transplant unit and provide mentorship within a collegiate environment

Qualifications & Experience

  • GMC specialist register for General Surgery or within six months of receiving a CCT at interview
  • Current and broad experience of general, transplant, and renal access surgery
  • Strong clinical skills and commitment to team collaboration

Duration & Setting

The appointment is for twelve months at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, part of the Manchester University Hospital Foundation Trust, within a multidisciplinary, multi‑professional transplant team.
