Salary: Competitive basic + bonus + benefits

Type: Full time

We’re working with a well established national business that is looking to appoint a Regional Sales Manager to lead commercial growth across the South of England.

This is a senior regional role with responsibility for leading a field based sales team, driving new business activity and developing relationships with key customers across commercial and multi-site environments.

The business has a strong customer base, a solid reputation in its market and clear plans for continued growth. They are looking for someone who can bring energy, structure and accountability to the region while staying close to the team, the numbers and the customer.

The role

You’ll take ownership of sales performance across the South, working closely with the regional team and wider leadership group to deliver growth.

A big part of the role will be developing the sales team, improving pipeline quality and making sure activity is focused on the right customers and opportunities. You’ll also be involved in larger conversations with prospects and existing clients, supporting the team where needed and helping to shape the commercial approach across the region.

This is not a purely desk-based management role. The right person will be visible, hands-on and comfortable spending time in the field with the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading, coaching and developing a regional sales team
  • Delivering growth across the South of England
  • Driving new business activity and improving pipeline quality
  • Supporting the team on key opportunities and larger customer conversations
  • Building relationships with prospects, customers and internal stakeholders
  • Targeting commercial, corporate and multi-site environments
  • Reviewing performance, activity, conversion and regional sales data
  • Working closely with senior leadership to shape regional sales strategy
  • Bringing consistency, structure and accountability to the sales process
  • Identifying opportunities to improve performance and increase revenue

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in B2B sales, ideally within a service led, FMCG, facilities management, workplace services, commercial services or multi-site sales environment.

You might have experience selling into sectors such as universities, hospitals, residential developments, offices, public sector sites, commercial buildings, leisure, retail, industrial estates or other large customer environments.

This could suit someone already operating as a Head of Sales, Regional Sales Manager or Sales Director, but we are also very open to a high performing Senior Business Development Manager or Business Development Manager who is ready to step into a broader leadership role.

The key thing is that you understand how to win business, build relationships, manage a pipeline and with an interest in leading a small team.

You’ll need to have:

  • Proven experience in B2B sales
  • Experience selling products or services into commercial or multi-site customers
  • A strong track record of winning new business and growing accounts
  • Experience managing, mentoring or supporting other salespeople
  • Confidence dealing with senior decision makers
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • The ability to manage pipeline, forecasts and sales performance
  • A practical, hands-on approach
  • The confidence to lead from the front
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South

Relevant backgrounds could include:

  • FMCG
  • Facilities management
  • Workplace services
  • Commercial services
  • Field sales
  • Business services
  • Multi-site B2B sales
  • Contract led sales
  • Products or services sold into universities, hospitals, residential buildings, commercial offices or public sector environments

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to take on a visible sales leadership role within an established national business that is continuing to grow.

You’ll have the chance to shape performance across a key region, develop a team and make a real impact on the future direction of the sales function.

For the right person, this could be a genuine step up into a broader leadership role with ownership, visibility and plenty of opportunity to make your mark.
