Roles and responsibilities

This role is part of the Applications team, responsible for maintaining applications, ensuring they remain supported, fit‑for‑purpose, and meeting the needs of end users. As application subject matter experts, you will contribute to the design and development of new products and services, improve user experience in our systems and processes, and proactively maintain our application portfolio to reduce technical debt.

  • Perform user and security administration for a portfolio of applications, covering joiners, leavers, movers (JLM), role‑based access control (RBAC) based on least privilege, and other build and configuration activities.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve incidents and problems affecting our applications and end users.
  • Contribute to and support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage incident registration and allocation to appropriate channels.
  • Investigate problems, determine their level (strategic, tactical, operational), and implement remedies and preventative measures.
  • Implement changes based on change requests, applying change control procedures.
  • Maintain secure configuration and accurate information, control IT assets, and verify location and state of assets.
  • Manage service components to ensure they meet business needs and performance targets, focusing on availability and capacity.
  • Support continual service improvement by developing process efficiencies and optimising processes.
  • Own issues until a new owner is found or the problem is mitigated or resolved.
  • Stay service‑focused, taking inputs and establishing coherent frameworks.
  • Assume technical specialism by providing technical support activities and carrying out agreed or routine maintenance and administration tasks.
  • Apply technical understanding of the subject matter and its implications.
  • Execute test scripts under supervision and understand the role of testing.
  • Engage with users or stakeholders to identify needs, collate evidence, and transform user focus into outcomes using quantitative and qualitative data.
