Job Description

As an Associate in the EMEA Infrastructure M&A team in London you will work with market‑leading professionals at the heart of a leading global investment bank. You will participate in the full cycle of transactional execution including preparing marketing pitches, reviewing and formulating financial analysis, preparing and presenting internal committee memoranda and client presentations. You will play a leadership role in implementing the execution function, working with analysts and associates and assisting senior bankers on negotiations and tactics. You will develop strong function skills in the major areas of investment banking and demonstrate the ability to become a senior officer capable of generating and executing your own transactions. Working with a broader team of about 100 M&A practitioners in the EMEA region, you will be provided opportunities to be involved in real‑time transactions that may include frequent travel.

Scope of Work

  • Transactions:
    • Sell‑sides, divestitures, spin‑offs, leveraged buy‑outs, public‑to‑privates.
    • Acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures.
    • Equity, bank and debt capital‑market transactions.
  • Sectors:
    • Digital infrastructure (data centers, communication towers, fibre and optical cable networks).
    • Transportation infrastructure (airports, sea ports and container terminals, toll roads, EV charging, rail and mass transit and parking).
    • Energy, power, utility and mining infrastructure (conventional, renewable and distributed generation, storage, transmission and distribution networks, water and waste).
    • Mission‑critical services and social infrastructure.
  • Clients:
    • Corporates.
    • Financial institutions including infrastructure investors, private equity firms, diversified alternative asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, family offices and insurance capital providers.
  • Regions: executions across EMEA or EMEA‑based clients on global undertakings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop content for strategic meetings with clients regarding M&A transactions.
  • Interact daily with senior team members and client management teams to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives.
  • Define, guide and review detailed valuation analysis, including DCF, trading comparables, transaction comparables, LBO and DDM analyses.
  • Define, guide and review detailed combination and other financial analyses in the context of M&A transactions or pitch situations.
  • Develop highly bespoke and sophisticated M&A sale strategy processes.
  • Work closely with clients to develop comprehensive transaction materials, including business plans, performance analyses, due diligence reports and marketing materials.
  • Assist deal team leaders and transaction lawyers in negotiations and deal documentation.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to analysts and interns.
  • Participate in graduate recruiting.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Several years of prior work experience in an investment banking front office role, or in a relevant role at a top‑tier buy‑side institution or consulting firm.
  • Strong corporate finance proficiency and financial modelling skills.
  • Experience throughout the transaction cycle and execution oriented.
  • Impeccable communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders across lines of business.
  • Self‑directed, highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions in parallel, prioritising time across competing demands.
  • Desire and/or experience working in infrastructure‑related sectors on M&A transactions.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • European language in addition to English (desired but not mandatory).
