Location / Working Pattern
Based at Doncaster. Monday – Friday 40 hours per week. Travel will be required to other sites across the country based on business need.
Job Role Summary
Working closely with the People team, the People Business Partner will drive forward the delivery of the People Strategy aligned with business requirements.
The People Business Partner plays a critical role in shaping a high-performing and engaged workforce. Acting as a strategic partner to operational leaders, the People Business Partner provides expert guidance across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring people practices directly support production reliability, workforce safety and long term business performance.
Key Priorities
Workforce Planning & Talent Management
- Partner with supervisors and managers to review workforce needs and ensure access to the right talent and skills
- Lead succession planning and development initiatives for critical and hard-to-fill roles.
- Identify skill gaps and drive training, upskilling and apprenticeship programmes.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant resolution of issues.
- Support and maintain a positive employee experience across all site teams, including Production, Maintenance and Office employees.
- Strengthen engagement through clear communication, visibility onsite and proactive partnering with frontline employees.
- Design, create and implement organisational initiatives that will enhance the company culture and ways of working.
Management Coaching and Capability Development
- Coach and advise line managers on effective people management, people policies and operational decision making.
- Build management competence through targeted workshops, training and development activities.
- Support new managers and supervisors to develop confidence and people management capability.
Performance and Productivity Support
- Develop and implement a performance management cycle, ensuring objectives, reviews and development plans are embedded and consistent in approach across the organisation.
- Design and implement a reward and recognition scheme acknowledging strong performance and behaviours.
- Partner with operations to identify people-related challenges and implement targeted solutions.
- Support productivity by advising on shift patterns, team structures and role design.
People Operations and Compliance
- Ensure HR processes, policies, and employment practices comply with employment law and support business needs.
- Support internal audits and maintain compliance with external regulatory requirements
Change Management and Continuous Improvement
- Support organisational change initiatives, such as restructures, shift changes and process launches.
- Champion continuous improvement across HR processes, utilising operational excellence or lean principles where relevant.
- Drive adoption and optimisation of HR systems and digital tools.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Manage end to end recruitment for operational, technical and office roles ensuring quality of hire and speed of process.
- Work with hiring managers to design effective selection processes.
- Oversee onboarding to ensure new starters are integrated quickly, safely and effectively.
Person Specification – People Business Partner
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
- CIPD Level 5 or equivalent
- Strong understanding of UK employment law
Experience
- Advising/Supporting on employee relations case management
- Leading on the recruitment lifecycle and all associated activities
- Managing and reporting on HR data and metrics
Knowledge
- Employment law expertise
- Understanding of manufacturing workforce challenges
- Knowledge of performance and people management
