Staff Nurse – Colo-rectal and Urology Surgical Services

7 North is home to three of our surgical services – urology, general and colorectal. Under the leadership of a well-established Matron, the 7 North nursing team delivers high quality nursing care to patients who are recovering from a range of elective and non-elective surgeries. Some patients will have had level 2 or 3 care during their journey and the team are expert at looking after step downs which can number four or five every week. Other patients may have been admitted through our emergency department and have undergone urgent surgery.
You’ll be part of an expert multidisciplinary team providing excellent clinical care to patients with often complex rehabilitation and discharge requirements, and you’ll also provide acute medical interventions to patients with a wide range of conditions.

Main duties of the job
- To deliver nursing care to a designated group of patients.
- To work as part of a team each shift.
- Provide nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- To work in line with Trust policies and local guidelines and in a way that reflects the NMC code.

Person Specification
Education
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Nursing Degree
- Previous experience of speciality
Skills/knowledge/abilities
- Good clinical skills and a commitment developing them further
- Medication administration skills, including IV drug administration (or a willingness to undergo training
- A knowledge of care planning, preceptorship, reflection and clinical supervision
- Previous surgical or inpatient NHS experience
