The Role

We are looking for a Tube Assembly & Test Technician to join our team, supporting the processing, assembly, and testing of X-ray tubes for our industry-leading scanning systems.

This is a hands-on role within a high-tech manufacturing environment, working with sophisticated vacuum and high-voltage equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test X-ray tubes ready for integration into scanning systems
  • Operate vacuum bake-out ovens and associated vacuum equipment
  • Conduct tube activation, assembly completion, and preparation for testing
  • Perform high-voltage conditioning and testing
  • Diagnose and rectify vacuum leaks
  • Carry out basic fault finding on tubes, equipment, and vacuum systems
  • Support wiring loom build and general assembly activities
  • Complete accurate data recording (Excel-based) and shift reports
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and test rigs
  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required
  • Ensure compliance with COSHH and health & safety standards
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workspace
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Key Requirements

  • 3–4 years’ experience in a technical/engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating complex manufacturing, scientific, or test equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes
  • Comfortable working with computer-controlled equipment (HMI interfaces)
  • Good team player with strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting
  • Knowledge of safe working practices

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience with vacuum systems or high-voltage equipment
  • Background in X-ray, medical, or scientific equipment manufacturing
  • Cleanroom experience
  • Helium leak testing or vacuum system maintenance
  • Familiarity with quality systems, COSHH, 5S, or Six Sigma
  • Experience using lifting equipment (e.g., gantry cranes)

Qualifications

  • ONC/HND in Engineering or Scientific discipline, or equivalent experience
