Position
The Sea Ceptor Weapon Systems team is expanding and seeks a System Engineer to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. Salary: Circa £57,000 depending on experience. Working pattern: 3 days per week on-site (hybrid). Security clearance: British citizen or dual UK national with British citizenship. All successful candidates will be required to pass a Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Opportunity
This Systems Engineering position supports the sustainment and development of the Sea Ceptor Weapon System, a highly successful maritime air‑defence system with multiple UK and export contracts. The role involves coordinating and conducting detailed technical studies, assessments and work packages associated with future development and evolution of the system, leading resolution of technical issues and managing system architecture definition. The successful candidate will also support trials data analysis, combat system integration, verification, safety, security and performance activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct technical studies and assessments to drive future design evolution.
- Support combat system integration and resolve technical queries across domestic and export programmes.
- Generate trade studies to understand the impact of design evolution.
- Provide in‑service support, including technical resolution of issues as they arise.
- Review and analyse technical data to document findings.
- Investigate defects through analysis of data and system design.
- Provide technical input for export new business across system architecture topics.
- Manage non‑compliance impact assessment.
- Support trials at both on‑site MBDA and off‑site locations.
- Resolve internal subsystem queries via IQR forum.
- Assist in defining requirements for internal subsystems and external interfaces.
- Manage task packages.
Qualifications
- Established experience in the Systems Engineering lifecycle, including requirement elicitation, design drivers, and verification processes.
- Experience in systems integration and system interface definition, including interface control documents.
- Experience in defining or developing system architecture.
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Ability to work proactively and balance multiple concurrent tasks.
- Experience with RTC & DOORS is desirable.
