Trustee with financial experience – Volunteer

Company: Brighton Permaculture Trust
Apply for the Trustee with financial experience – Volunteer
Location: Stanmer
Job Description:

By sharing permaculture skills, reducing food waste, and planting thriving orchards, our charity is helping Sussex communities build a brighter future together. We are seeking a new trustee with financial management experience to help us deliver more impact in financially challenging times.

What difference will you make?

As a trustee with financial skills and experience, you will help our board to make sound financial decisions. With your help, the board will have a clearer understanding of our finances, ensuring we invest in people and new projects, confident that our important ongoing work is not at risk.

What are we looking for?

You don’t need to have any knowledge of permaculture as there will be opportunities to learn as part of your onboarding.

You do need to be strongly aligned with our values

  • Earth care enhancing natural resources and biodiversity; celebrating seasons
  • People care valuing diversity, embracing difference, supporting health and wellbeing by connecting people to nature and to healthy food
  • Fairshares inspiring people to create solutions for sharing resources wisely, today and for future generations.

We’re looking for people who

  • Are committed to our values and aims as a charity
  • Are based locally and able to commit to the role for at least two years
  • Can attend bi‑monthly trustee meetings (typically on Monday afternoons via Zoom)

Hybrid

We expect trustees to be able to attend meetings virtually or in person as required.

What will you be doing?

As a trustee you will help guide our charity through some exciting changes on the horizon. We are in the process of taking on our own plot of woodland in a central Brighton location.

By taking on a new site in central Brighton we will be able to deliver more accessible activities for nature connection, permaculture learning and community food growing.

Trustees play a vital role in keeping Brighton Permaculture Trust accountable, resilient, and true to our values. You will help steer our direction, uphold our mission, and support our growth.

We are looking to attract more voices to our small governing body. A wide and diverse set of skills and experiences is vital for developing the Trust.

We are especially looking for trustees with knowledge of finance, accounting, or fundraising.
