Home Care Support Worker
Location: Tudor House, 1 Withdean Court Avenue, Brighton, BN1 6YF
Salary: £28,142 – £28,598 per annum for full‑time work without a relevant qualification (£14.59–£14.82 per hour). With a relevant qualification: £29,064 – £31,022 per annum (£15.06–£16.08 per hour). Enhancements are available for evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Contractual hours: 20 per week on a fixed schedule.
About the role
You will be part of a team that supports young people with learning disabilities, helping them to participate fully in daily life and to develop skills that promote independence. Your work will involve:
- Providing intimate personal care where required.
- Meeting the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of the young people and fostering opportunities for play, leisure and learning.
- Performing domestic tasks such as cleaning, shopping and preparing meals.
- Planning, organising and taking part in activities both in-house and in the wider community (e.g., swimming, walking, cinema visits, bowling, shopping).
- Administering medication as required.
- Using communication tools to help young people express themselves.
- Recording observations and maintaining accurate records.
- Building and maintaining relationships with family members, carers and friends.
- Co‑ordinating with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each individual.
About you
You will need to:
- Hold a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or be willing to obtain this qualification within two years of starting the job.
- Have an understanding of child development and childcare.
- Possess good written, numeric and organisational skills.
- Be able to work independently, think quickly in challenging situations, and work as part of a team.
- Meet the physical, emotional and mental demands of the role, including the ability to run after a child or apply restrictive interventions when necessary.
You will work a four‑week rolling rota:
- Early shifts: 7:00 am to 2:30 pm (until 11:00 am during term time).
- Late shifts: 2:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
- Additional duties: two weekends per month and a sleep‑in duty at least once a month.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the role is less than 37 hours per week or if it is term‑time only.
