Cover Supervisor – SEND Primary School (Day-to-Day Supply)

Location: Southwark

Contract: Day-to-Day Supply, Term Time Only

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm

Pay: £110–£130 per day (dependent on experience)

A welcoming and well-resourced SEND primary school in Southwark is seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to support on a day-to-day supply basis.

This role is ideal for someone with experience covering classes and a background as a Teaching Assistant, particularly within SEND settings. You will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher, while supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising whole classes and delivering pre-set work in the absence of the teacher
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs using appropriate strategies
  • Managing and responding effectively to behaviours that challenge
  • Leading and directing Teaching Assistants within the classroom where required
  • Ensuring a safe, structured, and positive learning environment

About You:

  • Experience working as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role
  • Previous TA experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, and SEMH, with effective support strategies
  • Confident managing classroom behaviour and maintaining engagement
  • Experience supporting pupils with behaviours that challenge
  • Ability to lead and guide support staff effectively
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to different classroom settings
