We are seeking an experienced, multi-skilled, research scientist/engineer to work in the small team developing a breathalyser for narcotics. The ideal candidate will have experience in innovative research, leading to product development, particularly in the development of highly sensitive (bio)sensors using electronic and/or optical means.
Experience of designing and implementing laboratory experiments and field trials will be essential.
You will be joining a multi-disciplined team of bio-chemists, engineers and scientists, tackling an important but highly technically challenging problem with a significant commercial potential in the UK, US and globally.
NB we are not currently able to sponsor Skilled Worker Visas.
Key responsibilities
· Innovation and implementation transduction mechanisms for biosensors, with the focus on materials and novel device arrangements
· Design, fabrication and testing of biosensors and novel sensing mechanisms
· Driving microfluidic design strategies for multiple sensing
· Experimental analysis including Quartz Crystal Microbalance based techniques
· Interaction with academic partners
Key requirements
You must have:-
· device physics background (e.g organic and inorganic FETs/ECTs etc)
· biosensors background – ideally electrical transduction mechanisms
· good understanding of the chemistry and biochemistry of proteins, aptamers etc
· solid experimental design and implementation skills
· strong data analysis skills
· experience with QCM analysis
· industrial/commercial research experience
It would be an advantage to have:-
· cleanroom fabrication skills (deposition, photolithography, wet/dry etching etc)
· mechanical design skills
