Job Overview

Position: Support Worker – Criminal Justice

Location: Taunton (with travel across Somerset within a 30‑mile radius)

Hours: 25 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £17,466.66 per year (full time equivalent £26,200)

Responsibilities

As a Support Worker within the Criminal Justice Service, you will provide support and advocacy to individuals leaving prison who have recently experienced homelessness. Your duties will include:

  • Managing referrals and completing needs and risk assessments.
  • Developing tailored support plans and working with agencies such as the National Probation Service, Police and other support agencies.
  • Assisting clients with benefit claims, budgeting, and tenancy coaching.
  • Ensuring accommodation meets health and safety standards.
  • Maintaining clear, timely records and contributing to reporting for partners and funders.
  • Participating in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults and/or people with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
